Undoing and recovering

Undoing and recovering

The last piece of the pattern is recovery. If an action didn’t do what you wanted, u undoes it. Press u again to step further back through your history, as far as you need.

If you undo too far, U (capital U) redoes — it walks forward through the same history.

This safety net means you can try things freely. Select, act, and if you don’t like the result, press u.

Work through the checklist below.

  1. Delete a word Select any word with w, then press d.
  2. Undo the deletion with u Press u — the word comes back exactly as it was.
  3. Redo it with U Press U (capital U) — the deletion is applied again.
